This x-southern pacific 4449 built by lima in 1941 was retired in 1958. Southern pacific donated the locomotive to the city of Portland where it was put on display at oaks pork along with other locomotives in 1974 where they are being preserved. It was decided to restored 4449 to operating condition in 1975. It was finished  just in time for the bicentennial  pull in 1976. The America freedom train toured across the united states with  friends family of 4449 continue to maintain the locomotive and operate it on special excursions. Reading T-1 #2101 where also used to pull the American Freedom Train. It will never run again. it was in a roundhouse fire it has bin cosmetically restored at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum & Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 # 610 Today this engine is owned and housed at the Texas State Railroad State Historical Park in Palastine, Texas
